CELEBRATING DIFFERENCES - Body Image program for students

Adolescence is a period during which individuals are going through several bodily as well mental changes. They are sensitive and worried about their own body changes and are susceptible to make painful comparisons about themselves with their peers. A program was conducted for the students of Std VIII to introduce concepts of body image and create awareness about the same. Students recognized that beauty meant something different to each person and therefore, beauty lies in the beholder’s eyes. An understanding that there was beauty in each of them and they were all equal was an emotional revelation for many. Topics such as health and habits to care for oneself everyday were discussed. With the help of an activity, students realized that how we make another person feel, leaves a lasting impression – inner beauty is the real beauty. Their learnings to accept themselves, recognize beauty in each individual and understand the uniqueness in one another were significant.
